Why do people pick on the Mentally Handicap

I finally learned why this topic was posted. I don't read every single thread that's started here, and when the "I Like FECC" thread was started, I just skipped over it because Hey, it just didn't grab my attention.

I just looked through it.

My opinion, and this comes from someone that would jump down the throat of person that I caught picking on someone who truely is mentally handicapped, this thread was started out of haste by someone who is very clearly thin skinned and who wanted to start a personal fight with another member.

I am clearly on Turtles side (YIKES) on this issue. When I saw that picture, I saw what I thought was a picture of drunken or sober party-goer hooping it up on a dance floor somewhere. I then saw the "ELITE" that Turtle referred to and laughed at his referrence. (Panther Elite). "Mentally Handicapped" might have never never come to my mind when looking at that picture and within the context as to why it was posted. I fully believe that the context that the picture was used for was NOT being used to make fun of people with diminished capacities. There are pictures of party goers all over the internet that are far worse than this one that might make someone think "Mental Patient" right off the bat. The one Turtle posted does not.

Non-issue, thin-skinned post, trying to start an off-the-cuff argument by one member against another that will end up going nowhere is all this thread is.

IOW, wasted bandwidth, know what I mean.

You are totally wrong. I didn't post this to start with Trutle. Nobody even knew what I was talking about until Trutle said something. The post was not to start a fight or pick on Trutle. It was something asked. Being a EO member that had his screen name change because someone sent sick E-mails to me when my son was in the hospital knocking on deaths door back in 2004. You tell me how you would feel if you got and E-mail saying " I hope your retarded son dies". " I hope that dumb mother F**ker dies today" and those are only a few of many nasty e-mails I got. Ask Dreamer about it he seen some of them.

So I guess I'm a little thin skinned.

Maybe I'm in the wrong for bringing forth my personal opinion that you may have been "Thin Skinned" over a picture Turtle posted.

I clearly cannot put myself in your shoes over an incident that happened here on this board over 6 years ago that concerned your son. No one here can or should even try to. What happened here 6 years ago should not have been tolerated then, and would not be tolerated today, period. I'll be one of the first ones to jump into the ash whoopin' party to defend both you and your sons honor if it happened today, tomorrow, next week, next month, so on.

I do wonder what your intentions were when starting this thread though.........

Very few knew what you were referring too in your OP. I swear, my thoughts WERE this was a stab at that monkey-in-chief VS Gen McChrystals "Rolling Stone" article. Your title you put at the top of this page could very well be the title for Gen McChrystals auto-biography when telling his story as to why his Military Career came to an end today.

My opinion, you did have an ill feeling toward Turtles picture and wanted to call him out on it. It is also my opinion that your feelings could have been brought to Turtles attention via a PM. (it wasn't Turtle that was involved 6 years ago was it?? I doubt it & hope not) Yes, Turtle can be a butt at times, but I don't think he had any ill intentions at all, either towards your son or the mentally handicapped, when he posted that picture taking a stab at Panther Elite. Turtle is reasonable at times(and I emphasize AT TIMES ), both on the board and in PM's, and would have probably done the right thing by taking that picture down if you had expressed your feelings in private and not started a whole new thread expressing your feelings, know what I mean.

You have my thoughts and wishes, OK.

I saw the Elite and just thought about Panther. I didn't notice any handicap till some one pointed it out. I was looking at the humor in relation to the earlier posts.

I understand how you feel about the whole thing. As an Elite owner and driver I guess maybe you can understand now.

I understand what you mean, the term Metally Handicap is used because people don't like the word Mentally Retarded.

I am a parent of a mentally challenged child - She's not a child now but it still hurts when the morons decide to show their ignorance and say something entirely stupid and inappropriate.

What does this subject have to do with expediting - what does it have to do with truck driving. I will offer my opinion we as 'professionals' no matter what we do need to understand how to treat people with respect no matter what.

I have seen and heard the hateful words from kids and adults.

Try explaining to a child why people (no matter what their age) are making fun of them. Try explaining to a child that those people just don't understand what it's like. Try being that father that is on the road and gets a phone call from your special child because some moron doesn't know any other words that words of hate, indignation.

People have long since forgotten the golden rules. Don't say anything unless you can say something nice.
