What's behind Obama's slapping of friends?

WASHINGTON — What is it like to be a foreign ally of Barack Obama’s America?

If you’re a Brit, your head is spinning. It’s not just the personal slights to Prime Minister Gordon Brown — the ridiculous 25-DVD gift, the five refusals before Brown was granted a one-on-one with The One.

Nor is it just the symbolism of Obama returning the Churchill bust that was in the Oval Office. Query: If it absolutely had to be out of Obama’s sight, could it not have been housed somewhere else on U.S. soil rather than ostentatiously repatriated?

Perhaps it was the State Department official who last year denied there even was a special relationship between the U.S. and Britain, a relationship cultivated by every U.S. president since Franklin Roosevelt.

And then there was Hillary Clinton’s astonishing, nearly unreported (in the U.S.) performance in Argentina last month. She called for Britain to negotiate with Argentina over the Falklands.

Rest of story:

What?

Didn't you know he was a francophile?

Now I may be mistaken and others can correct me but I don't think Bush or any other president ever used first names with other heads of state. In the most recent visit from the great leader Sarkozy, Obama kept calling him Nicolas, or Nicoli.

He obviously hates England for some reason, maybe it is Fish and Chips?

And then there was Hillary Clinton’s astonishing, nearly unreported (in the U.S.) performance in Argentina last month. She called for Britain to negotiate with Argentina over the Falklands.

Well here is the AP news piece;

UK's Cameron: US disappointing over Falklands
By DAVID STRINGER (AP)

LONDON — Britain's opposition chief — and possible next leader — said Wednesday the failure of the United States to back London in a dispute with Argentina was disappointing, as he promised a more candid relationship with Washington if he wins office.

In an interview with The Economist newspaper, Conservative Party leader David Cameron — whose party leads in opinion polls ahead of an election expected in May — hinted that he'd take a tougher stance with allies including President Barack Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Cameron said he was disappointed that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attempted recently to facilitate talks between London and Buenos Aires over the status of the contested Falkland Islands.

Argentina and Britain went to war in 1982 over the islands — which are claimed by Buenos Aires, but have been occupied by Britons since the early 1800s. The two countries recently have been caught in a new spat over the exploitation of vast energy reserves beneath waters in the South Atlantic.

"I think it was disappointing, frankly, but I've always said the special relationship should be a frank and a candid one, and I think you should frankly and candidly say we're disappointed," Cameron told the newspaper.

Clinton offered to help Argentina and Britain resolve their dispute and said the United States was willing to be a go-between, a move which angered some in the U.K.

Cameron suggested that, under his rule, Britain may seek a more modest international role — saying the U.K. could no longer act as the "equal partner" of the U.S.

"We are the junior partner in that relationship, and I think part of getting the relationship right is understanding how best to play the role of the junior partner," Cameron was quoted as saying.

He insisted that ties to the U.S. will remain Britain's most important relationship, but claimed "we don't overstate it and don't ever think that it's a sort of equal partnership because it isn't."

Cameron has twice held talks with Obama and could potentially take a place on the world stage at a G-20 summit scheduled for Canada in June, if his party wins the looming election.

He has said Afghanistan will be his chief foreign policy priority and pledged to set up a dedicated war cabinet, but indicated that he's been unimpressed with Karzai.

"I think at his best he can do good things, but we have to be very clear about the need to cut out corruption," Cameron told the newspaper.

OH and you left out the best part of the Krauthammer piece;

For those who know no history — or who believe that it began on Jan. 20, 2009

This is exactly what happens when you hire people for a job that they have no business being in. No relevent experience. No relevent background. Oh yeah, I was told that experience and background don't matter, guess this is how it should be.

All HAIL to King Putz the 1st!!!

Well for the first time in our nations post war history, we have openly restricted the use of weapons on an enemy. Our great president has slapped all of our allies around a bit with his attempted unilateral move to limit the use of our nukes. As pointed out on the 'very conservative' news outlet - BBC - he has for some reason put our country on a "path of utter contempt for peace and stability" and has cause great concern with the future of countries that depend on our ability to be strong and remain strong.

I think it all plays into a problem that if we end up being attacked, say by Iran with bio-weapons, our response will be limited to conventional weapons because the issue will now be attacking a non-nuke country and how the world will view us.

Obama is a fool. He has absolutly NO IDEA IN THE WORLD what he is doing. This is the result of not having any experience in anything that matters. He has weakend our country yet again. Is it any wonder that he is not trusted by our military or anyone that has even the slightest understanding of defense matters? The world is watching. We are in real trouble. This man has NO business in that office. He needs to go.

Just wait and see what happens if he is re-elected.

I question his judgement, I question if he is even making an attempt to protect our Constitution, I question his honesty, his integrity and his patiotism. I wonder who he answers too? He is NOT acting in the best interest of this Nation or it's People.

Well I am starting to think it will be 1976 all over again if the republicans get their act together.

It seems that the republicans were handed one of the best gifts that they could ever hope or pray for with the Nuke move and they should right now start hitting with ads like the middle of the night phone call ad. The real problem is no one is home at the republican's office.

The public should know about this, and it should be driven home hard that we just got screwed.

He is only fulfilling a campaign promise. Remember the speech he made on Oct. 22, 2007? In case anyone has forgotton, here's the text and a link to the actual speech:

"As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington. First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning -- and as president, I will end it. Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems, and I will institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending. Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material, and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals. You know where I stand."

YouTube - Obama-Caucus4Priorities

It appears that he intends to live up to MOST of these pledges. However, when it comes to the one about "a global ban on the production of fissile material" , he conveniently lets this one slide as he turns a blind eye toward Iran as they flagrantly develop nuclear weapons under the world's noses. Just stop and think about the potential consequences of alienating our allies, emboldening our enemies and weakening our military strength. It boggles the mind to think of the damage this guy could do before we get him out of office.

The People, or at least a lot of the People, will go along with this stupidity. They believe that weakness is good. They believe that this move shows courage. They are fools.

The ReBumLiCans? Almost as big a joke as the
Dumb-O-Crats. Neither of those two criminal organizations give a rats flip about the People of this Nation.

It is now time to start looking a treason charges. Not only for Obama but any elected official that goes along with this.

Where is the Congress? They just sitting around with their fingers up their collective noses? They should be outraged. Most of the bunch in there right now will go along with this foolishnish. Our ONLY hope is that the Senate does NOT ratify that new treaty. What little I have been able to learn about it is not good. It looks like our buddy Barry may be giving away the farm to the Russians, This new move, well, there just are not enough negitive words to heap on it.

Yea Pligrim, but he also promised to change the way washington works which has not happened.

Layout, the real issue is not the treaty, that you know is a farce with the russians. They already know what they can get away with so it is just like the Germans and the english in 1938/39.

Yes Greg, I am more than aware of the farce that these treaties are. I am more than aware of the continous violations that the Soviets committed. The least the Senate could do is make it SEEM like we care about it.

What a joke.
