I voted absentee the last time i was in Toledo....like you i moved for all the fresh new names....i also considered Kieth an incumbent as he has held offices in Toledo before, so it was Mike Bell for mayor....:D

I, too, voted yesterday, here in Charlotte. The early voting turnout has been brisk, for an off-year election. Our current mayor has been in office for 14 years, and is not running again
this time, so we will have a new mayor, either R or D.

There is a lot of interest in the school board election, this time. As has been said, "all politics are local". Your school board can effectively impact your neighborhood school, with their decisions.

As far as trying to oust incumbents, I believe that you have to be an informed voter first.
You shouldn't pull the lever for the "other guy", just because he/she isn't an incumbent. I
choose to believe that there are still well motivated, caring people in office. Educate yourself and then vote.

There maybe good and motivated people in office where you live Freightchaser, but NOT where I live in S.E. Michigan and NOT, at least in my opinion, on the National Level. I see nothing but graft, corruption and incompetence. IF you have good motivated people where you live you are a very lucky man.

NC has sent a few, not sure how many, to prison. It seems that the trouble starts once they, the politicians, reach the State level. Ex-govenor, Mike Easley, is under investigation right now. That's why I quoted "all politics are local". We have had a good number of years go by without any serious problems, on the local(city and county) level.

Mike ended up winnng, keith conceded at about 2345 last night....but the freaken people in this town, voted all of the incumbents back in on city council....and added ludeman who was on council, but term limited out the last cycle, but the name recognition got him back in and he is nothing but a Rino....but at least the wife (polly gerkin)of the card carrying communist county commissioner (pete gerkin) didn't get elected to city council to carry on the socialist ideals of the family....
