Iranian protests continue to build

OVM,
Most of the exploitation that has taken place in the middle east has been from two countries, France and England.

They are to blame for the mess we have with Israel and the Arab states from their colonial attitude at the end of the First World War.

Other countries who have come and gone still have had little effect on the Middle East as a whole and if you look from the 50's to date, you can see a lot of self-governing taking place without intervention from either the west or the east.

Thats what we are trying to do..aren't we? But the pieces are so small....:D

Just turn the problem over to me!!! I would be willing to bet money I could fix it!!!!

Right Greg, the Brits and the French were the main culprets in that mess over there. They should have stayed home after we kicked them out of here!!

We buy most of our oil from Canada, NOT the Middle East. Oil is only one part of the equation. You do have to go back that far to look at a problem. We have no need to buy oil from there, we have plenty. Darn eco-nuts!!

Try again OVM, not 100 years ago but more like less than 50. The French still has messed with Lebanon and Morocco - two sources of their problems. The English with Palestinians even in the 60's.

The Oil is the excuse a lot use for our intervention in some of these problems but look around the place, see how many stable countries there are opposed to how many are not.

I read a novel once about the Middle East problem, I can't remember the name but I have it at home. The Isrealis found a way to drop radio active material down the oil well in Arab countries rendering them useless. That took away Arab leverage over the West and the entire mess cooled down! Not a very realistic book, but fun!!:D

These are still developing countries....why do we even "submissively" tinker over there....?

If the shoe were on the other foot we'd certainly tell the world to butt out of our business.

No they are not developing countries. Not one of them can be considered that. A developing country is one without a political base and structure, which every middle east country has had one for centuries.

The definition has been twisted and redefined according to what the source is.

The Kofin Anan of UN fame said "A developed country is one that allows all its citizens to enjoy a free and healthy life in a safe environment."

But the UN said "The designations "developed" and developing" are intended for statistical convenience and do not necessarily express a judgment about the stage reached by a particular country or area in the development process.

Wiki's definition is "A developing country is a country that has low standards of democratic governments, civil service, industrialization, social programs, and/or human rights guarantees that are yet to "develop" to those met in the West or alternative goals of material progress" which is a real problem.

The IMF also has it's own definition and because of it, countries like South Africa, Saudi and UAE are listed.

The crackdown is on. The Iranian Gestapo are breaking into homes and arresting/beating citizens. The government thugs are going to hospital emergency rooms and arresting the injured. Journalists are being arrested and/or deported. Chaos in the streets and in private homes.

A question comes to mind: are Iranian citizens allowed to bear arms? Sticks and stones are no match for bullets. The paramilitary thugs are having a field day terrorizing men, women and children. It appears a tipping point is at hand where either the people fight back ferociously or a state sponsored bloodbath will ensue.

Jealously guard your second admendment rights. It seems the Iranian people cannot defend themselves against their own brutish government.
