Here's my little grip...

I know certain management types look in here so PAY attention!!

How many times you walk into a shipper and say picking up {insert carrier} and they say ...Nope got nothing for you...Now like an idiot you have to call in get put on hold and find out whom you are picking up on behalf of...looking very unprofessional that we don''t know what the heck we are doing...some shippers get perturbed at being held up if they are busy....WHY the heck or WHAT is the BIG secret!! Tell us the WHOLE story for crying outloud!!!

Take it easy Ken! Get a grip before you gripe! When I walk into a shipper I tell them who I am what I am picking up (consignee, city, state). That usually eliminates most confusion.

Parker in F Wayne comes to mind....

Would that be the cylinder division in Hicksville, just across the line? Man I miss them! With Con-Way I would get loads going to southern Minnesota about 100 miles from home.

Happened to me just the other day.

Arrived one hour early for pickup at a large company that makes adhesive tape and sticky notes (you do the math).

"Nope....we don't ever use you guys." Come to find out, is was a 'blind' load that we grabbed off a load board from a company that is experiencing massive money problems right now. After shipping dolt calls someone with gray matter in excess of his, he shoves the BOL through the slot and says he'll bring the load outside to load truck. One problem-no Canadian Customs Invoice.

"We never have to declare value. If you guys need that, you'll have to provide it." Like I know the value of your stuff.

Took an hour and a half for what should have been 10 minutes.

Could easily have been avoided if the run info included some pertinent facts.....like who we were carrying on behalf of. Major secret.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the lack of info from dispatchers. Not like they don;t have it which sometimes they do have a gross lack of info but usually not who we're doing the load for. Had one yesterday, went in and asked for the load going to the destination town. Nope no one knew anything. Well this place is one of our customers so from the little I got from dispatch (go to abc pickup load for booniesville). So I thought they were the customer. Nope was another customer who purchased from this customer. Since I didn't have the destination address I couldn't figure that part out before I went in.

Third and fourth party pickups are such fun as usually some info is not passed along. Of course it's only some small piece of info we require (pickup number, p.o. num, name of original consignee not actual etc).
