Time to sell the truck and move along

Thank you, John. We have truly enjoyed being on the team and you are a class act all the way, which is reflected in the enterprise you have built. Second to none, in our book. Please be sure to look us up whenever you are in the Twin Cities!

advantages and disadvantages of staying under 26,000 pounds

IMO, there are more options at the 33K level. More carriers, more loads, more money, more comfort. Trade-off is higher entry cost and more DOT involvement.

advantages and disadvantages of staying under 26,000 pounds

There are apps for that. The bigger thing with IFTA is the record keeping, but it's not THAT bad, and many carriers will do that for their contractors.

Time to sell the truck and move along

After lots of thought and prayers, we have decided that we need to spend more time at home. We do this with mixed emotions, since we've greatly enjoyed our travels and working with the best carrier in the business. I'm sure at some point we will have to get an RV and become one of those moving...

    First year net earnings

We are also from MN and run as a team. Over the past three years we have found that the Rule of Thirds is pretty good for a ballpark estimate. $150K in revenue = 50K in fuel, 50K to the truck, and 50K to your pocket. Even with no truck payment , at your price point you will want to set more...

Lots of good, free fun! We keep a bag of trinkets in the truck and have found a lot placed in rest areas and near truck stops. Its also a blast watching the grandkids find one, plus gets them out from in front of the tv! Geocaching.com is full of info and has a free app for smart phones.

There are still required records to keep, including odometer readings and routing, etc. by the "recommended" format. GPS tracking is a good tool, and we used that when we ran our own IFTA, but when we were audited it sure was good to have the required records (including fuel receipts) to...

This looks like a potential soapbox topic, but I have a hard time seeing unions as a solution to any current day problem. Raise wages, but add union dues; add more benefits, but also add the union infrastructure, who are not known for working cheaply, to the economic equation. In the end, the...
