I have to admit, Mosquitos have not yet been an issue for me. I've just turned mu FanTastic Fan on "IN" and I think it kind of helped "push" them out as they might have come in the window. But feeling the need to have one of those window screens made me start thinking how easy it might be to just fabricate one.
"Privacy lattice"
Window screen material. $12
Spray adhesive already had.
Medium duty stapler that I already had.
Plastic "tile H strip" trim. $3 at Lowe's.
I forgot to take pictures on a couple of steps but were completed while hanging out in my van. Easy peasy.
1. Use whatever cardboard you can find to make a template to perfectly fit in the window channel around the top and sides.
2. After template is done, place it up in the channel and mark the bottom across the top of the window. Cut it to the line.
3. Cut the lattice to match the template an test fit it. Trim where needed to fit well all the way around.
4. Spray the "outside" of the lattice with the spray adhesive. Lay the window screen material on it and press firmly. Clean overspray off. It kind of balls up like cotton candy. Mine came off pretty easily.
5. Trim screen to where there's about 3/4" excess all the way around. Fold that excess over and staple it down to keep it from peeling. Bend staple points over so they hold.
6. Trim and fit the H trim to fit along the bottom of the lattice and staple it in a few places to hold.
7. Once assembled, the screen should fit snugly into the window channel. Just carefully roll the window up to it making sure the window slides right up in the bottom of the H channel strip.
