Well, Linda and I are looking foreward to some home time at Christmas.

She has cookies and cakes to bake. I have repairs to catch up on.
And of course visit with family and friends.

After leaving home this Thanksgiving, we have made a big happy face on the map.
Starting up in Maine, to Orlando, to LA, to Seattle and then Dallas, where we sit resetting
our clocks as I write this in the comfort of our bunk.

We got out of Washington just ahead of the big nasty that blew in Friday.
Our GPS wanted us to go via Montana to Texas. I think I'd just be digging out out
now if I had gone that way. Opted to go south on 5 to 10. A little longer but we dropped
on time in Dallas. We did get chained at Grants Pass, lost about 6 hours.

Well, this load got us half way home, 1 or 2 more runs and we'll wrap up the year.

I want to share a Christmas Fav of mine and wish everyone on EOLand Merry Christmas!!!!

Enjoy.

Best Ever Fruit Cake!

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 dash lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup dried fruit
1 cup chopped nuts
1 or 2 quarts whiskey
1 teaspoon baking soda

Before you start, sample the whiskey to check for quality. Good, isn't it? Now go ahead.

Select a large mixing bowl, measuring cup, etc. Check the whiskey again, as it must be

just right.

To be sure the whiskey is of the highest quality, pour one level cup into a glass

and drink it as fast as you can. Repeat.

With an electric mixer, beat 1 cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon

of thugar and beat again. Meanwhile, make sure that the whiskey of of the highest quality.

Cry another tup. Open 2nd quart if necessary.

Add 2 arge leggs, 2 cups of dried druit and beat 'til high. If Druit gets stuck in

the beaters, just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the whiskey again, checking

for tonscisity. Then sift 3 cups of salt or anything, it really doesn't matter,

sample the whiskey.

Sift 1/2 pint of lemon juice. Fold in chopped butter and strained nuts. Add a babblespoon

of brown thugar, or whatever color you can find and wix mell.

Grease oven and turn cake pan to 350 degrees. Now pour whole mess into the

boven and ake.

Check wheksey and bo to ged!

Hey Dave, this MUST go in our EO cookbook!! I have laughed out loud. This is priceless!! Thanks!

Hi India,
This is something I've heard on the radio for years. I dont know who did it or wrote it,
I too laugh at it.
Its a tradition, like listening to "Alices Restaraunt" at Thanksgiving or Dickens "A Christmas Carol" at Christmas.

It is in our Family Recipe Book as well.
