Those who struggle with their conscience every time they buy a new leather handbag will appreciate this innovation from an American restaurant..
Marlow & Sons is offering fashion accessories that diners will know the origin of. They will even know what it tasted like.

Because the leather goods are made from the same skin of the same cows that it serves up as meals to its customers.

Customers are given the opportunity to buy handbags from the same beast that moments earlier had been on their plate.
Desinger Kate Huling, 32, dreamed up the idea to try and get diners to 'honour the animal'.
'Look at how quickly you can eat a burger, and that animal sacrifice for you is just gone.

'Whereas with the bag, that's something that can last for generations and generations,' said Huling, whose husband, Andrew Tarlow, runs Marlow & Sons in Brooklyn, New York.
'We're interested in people having another opportunity to really honour the animal', she told the New York Post.

The leather goods are crafted from the tanned hides of the same locally sourced, grass-fed cows and pigs served at the restaurant

The meat from the grass-fed pigs and cows is then delivered and either sold in the butchers shop or served at one of the restaurants.
The skins leave the slaughterhouse and are sent to a tannery. Designers turn the skin into leather goods at Midtown's Fashion District befor they arrive in the restaurant.

For male customers there are belts, footballs and wallets.Next Autumn there will also be rabbit-fur hats and lambswool.
'There's a man who eats here two or three times a day. [When I introduced the line], he was like, 'Oh, wow, I'm going to need to buy [a belt],' Huling saaid.
'I hope that he liked it, but it was really more that idea that 'It's my responsibility. I eat those animals so much -- I need to participate in this whole cycle.

"That's not what's motivating us, just selling out, Huling added. 'We're really interested in people coming and eating here, and being a part of the whole process"
