The ability to "hire and fire" General Officers does NOT reside soley with the President, so this may be unfair criticism.
It's not only unfair, it's politically skewed spin to spread ignorant fear and hatred. The "story" at the above link is silly enough, but the source page is incredibly selective and disingenuous about it's irresponsible characterizations and the listed reasons for these dismissals. For example, an admiral in charge of nuclear weapons wasn't fired because he used fake poker chips in a casino, though that alone would do it, he was fired because he has extensive gambling problems and gambling debts, which is an incredibly significant national security risk.

I don't even think O is behind the firings. I think most of these guys r being booted for leaning to the left. Its more likely the Joint Chiefs have had enough and are getting rid of socialist officers. The real power in the military resides in their hands not the Presidents.
