What ever happened to pride & integrity!

Is it just me or has other People been sick & tired of putting up with so-much (lack of doing things right the first time, or they just dont care mentallity.) Here is just an example of what I have been experiencing in the last couple of months.

We were waiting to pick-up our new 2007 Hinny truck from our dealer, and I received a call from my salesman and he told me the truck arrived at the dealership,(But) They found a major cigarette burn into the new carpet of the sleeper and found the cigarette still laying on the floor burned out. Of course the driver who "smokes" drove the truck back to Mich. Had no idea how that happened and said the factory must have done it. The factory was contacted and they have a strick no smoking policy due to construction materials and the assorted glues they use building the sleepers. It's pretty simple to figure out what had happened. While we are at the sleeper factory they also can repair the two rivites sombody drove out the side of the sleeper.

Next we ordered new Aluminum wheels all around and finally had a chance to polish them last weekend along with the front chrome bumper.
And guess what? Our passenger front rim is totally destroyed from somebody who changed the rim to install it on our truck must have dropped it onto the concrete floor and had it roll around to make sure no spot was missed. Than they put on a impact wrench to finish off the rim right! They imbedded the lug nuts deep into the wheel instead of simply tighting to specs, and the socket left a nice heavy scratch ring around the lugs on the wheel.

last weekend while parked in a loading dock having freight put onto our new truck. The lugnut who was using the fork truck pretending he was a Nascar driver smashed his freight into the outer top of of rear cargo box roof smashing it in so we cannot shut the rear doors. So after beating in our new roof with a sleg hammer we can now shut the doors if we push real hard.

So now we get to lose time by being off the road to spend a day at the factory having a new carpet installed onto our sleeper, and another day or two having the rear of our cargo box repaired after we run around getting all the paper work completed from the Insurance company and getting two estimates for repair. Not to mention deadheading all over on our dime to get the repaires completed and lost wages.

Oh I forgot to mention we smelled antifreeze and discovered the clamps on our new APU unit were lose and were leaking, so we had to simply tighten them up.

The burn is probably because the smoker flipped the butt out the window and it blew back in and burned the carpet before he could stop and do anything about it. Smokers shouldn't be hired to transport other people's trucks. On the damage repairs you should be paid for all costs associated with the repair including deadhead, lost revenue, motel if needed and anything else extra out of pocket. The wheels should be changed out for an acceptable set. It would be amazing if there weren't a few things needing adjustment on a new truck but most of what you listed is pure negligence. Good luck with the repairs.

Leo, I agree that there should be a strict "no smoking" rule in place for new trucks. We smokers can indulge during our bathroom & meal breaks, so it's not an undue hardship. For myself, I have an ashtray/butt extinguisher in one cupholder, and NEVER toss cigarettes out the window. (I learned how stupid that is when towing our new boat, years ago.) We have the right to smoke in our own vehicles, but not to litter the world with butts.

That's where this forum can be especially helpful. It is a regular occurrence that satisfied customers name vendors they have come to like. When they do, add that vendor's name to your address book. You never know when you might be near one of them and are in need of service. We have a "vendor" category in our address book for that purpose.

You guy's are totally correct on what you had said.
The sad part is I actually talked to the guy who told me his Father was the man who was going to pick-up our new truck from Texas after the sleeper was completed. The Son even asked me if we smoked and I told him NO we dont and to please tell his father not to smoke because we do not want our new truck to smell like a ashtray instead of that new treuck smell. His reply was I'm glad you told me about that other wise I would have told my father to puffem down! What a jerk, they had no respect for our property.

Here is another one. When we were having our cargo box installed on our new truck we were paid to take our truck to have it installed from the dealer so we agreed to do it. We clearly told the workers who were installing the box onto our new truck to STAY out of the sleeper, and when we were ready to leave we noticed muddy foot prints going back into the sleeper, it was a muddy lot at the factory and we parked the truck and had left the vehicle and nobody had any business going into our truck let alone our sleeper. My son came unglued and confronted the men working on the cargo box, and their reply was "we have no idea who did that" So off we went really pi---d off looking for the shop foreman or the owner etc. They ended-up vacuming up all the mud etc, and one reply was we have never seen a sleeper like that one before. I replied give me your home address so I can stop by some time and walk into your house with muddy boots, and oh by the way that sleeper is my home, and you just violated my personal property.
