Get a good accountant that knows trucking. At the very least pay your quarterly taxes on time, and have the accountant or a competent CPA prepare your taxes.

Among other good options, John Turner CPA in Houston specializes in trucking taxes. He's taken care of my work since about 2006. He's saved me significant amounts of money and handled one audit that cost nothing extra in spite of the IRS wishes otherwise.

It's never too late. And if you hire the right one they can audit your last return to be sure it is correct. If not, they can file an amended return to pay whatever you missed before it piles up higher interest and fines or if you're lucky to factor in things you didn't know and get you a refund of part of what you paid. A good one like John can do that, and many others I'm sure.
