I was listening to some news forum on a local Ohio station yesterday while playing in the rain and there was a discussion about people that made me think.
There is a clear divide in this country, the conservatives/libertarians and the liberals - we all know that.
Most liberals want to be individuals and trying to insert some individuality in their lives and the issues but can't get away from the crowd. They are the ones who belong to the crowd because of how they approach problems all based on their philosophy but they are the ones always trying to make individual statements about issues, like having their car plastered bumper stickers and other means of communications to set apart from the crowd.
The conservatives/libertarians are the opposite, they are acting as individuals so they try to align themselves with groups to make them feel like they are doing something as a group. They try not to set themselves apart from the group by interjecting little individual statements into conversations to prevent them from the need to set themselves apart from the group.
Now as the liberals are trying to become individuals at the same time they are trying to bring everyone together as a group in order to solve problems. Government run health care, Cap and Trade, Bailouts with Government run companies.... all are group solutions.
The conservatives/libertarians are trying to enforce individual freedoms while to solve problems. Let the person have the freedom to choose their health care, rip down the barriers of the health care, have the private sector provide the solutions to 'global warming', no bailouts for the unions - let the companies fail... all are individual solutions.
