You know it is a sad day when a truck driver is on the side of a road trying to put out a small tire fire, my husband was on the road asking for a fire ext, because the one that we used ran out. And all the drivers could do was just keep going. I want to thank all you drivers that were out there on 97 north, by exit 10.
Did anyone finally stop to help or was this first post you made after being registered for almost 3 years have some sarcastic intent to it?
Can't really tell, just have a hunch, that's all.
I know what you're talking about though. I was flying down the 80 toll road up in Indiana one afternoon and flew pass this lady in a Ford Taurus who was on the side of the road with her hood up. Noticed she was about 10 feet in front of her car waving at people going down the road. I went past her probably running 70mph. I usually don't stop to help people with car trouble nowadays because in this day and age probably every vehicle in America has some sort of communications device in it (Cell Phones), and I know some sort of help is probably on it's way.
Anyways, as I flew by, I noticed a little smoke coming out from under the hood and as I passed I caught the glimpse of flames under there in my rearview mirror. I realized what she was waving about. I pulled over, backed down the highway on the shoulder for probably 1/2-3/4's of mile, the whole time "TRUCKS", and cars flying by me running 70-80mph. No one stopping to help her either. When I got to her car, flames were now about a foot high and smoke was getting heavier. I grabbed my Fire Ext and within a minute, fire was out and the Smoke was heavy as hell lingering in the air all over the place. People, "TRUCKERS", were still flying like a bat out of hell right past us. We stood there for about 5-10 minutes (40-50ft off the shoulder to be safe) until this Indiana State Trooper finally showed up. It wasn't til then when people, "TRUCKERS", started slowing down to a decent safe speed as they went by.
She tried to give me 40 bucks for use of my Fire Ext and for stopping of which I didn't take. Told her she's going to need that 40 bucks a hell of a lot more than I need it. Trooper Thanked me too and off I went.
So, I'm just wondering if your first post was made out of haste, or were you trying to Thank us? If sarcasm was meant, some of us out here will apologize for the rest of the others out there who have no sense of decency. Many here have probably been in some sort of similar situation like this before and have experienced the blatant disregard for human decency too.
