TriPac APU

What’s the reason for the APU to shut off when you turn the key on? There is a wire going to the fuse box that is plugged into a “ignition on” spot. So whenever you turn on the key to start the truck the apu will shut off. Can I unplug this wire with no damage to the unit? Would be nice to leave the heater on while truck warms up or just waking up the QC. Any thoughts.

It is likely a low voltage cut off switch. It also prevents a overcharge of the batteries as you would have two alternators running.

your APU is connected to the trucks cooling system so you would have 2 water pumps working against each other.
