How does one lose something they never had? Aren’t the Auto deliveries, bid jobs? Or passed off by FDX? Again I ask these questions based on hear-say.

Why beat around the bush? You are leased onto Tri state. So!!! Why not go directly to them and ask someone there to answer that question. Is it not better to get it straight from the horses mouth? You know by now that most of the responses you are going to get to that question are going to be hear-say, and more than half are going to be negative. That is just the history of a forum. That is the perfect question opening the door to a bashing spree on Tri State.

Your lease manager, or your safety manager should have an answer to that question. If neither one of them do, they should tell you who to ask. Maybe you could go directly to the sales manager for the answer.

Is it not true that Tri State has an open door policy? They say they are IC friendly! and beings you are an IC leased onto them. That is a legitimate question, that concerns your ability to maintain your fleet, so they can not wiggle a way out of not answering it.

I am not with Tri-State, and I don't want to make this a bashing thread. So, if it becomes one, I am sorry, but that was not my intention.

That rumor floats around every so often. I believe GM,Ford Chrysler and the Asians all put their requirements on NLM. It was announced down here today that Damiler Chrysler has put the construction of a Sprintliner plant on hold. This plant was to be located in Poole (Savannah) GA. They will not give a new start up date, this plant was to employ 3,300 people. They blame the economy (what else is new) but all of the States trying to get that plant were giving away the store. So maybe they are looking at a better deal.

For whatever it is worth....according to Tri-state they have severed their relationship with GM. I was told that they wanted their frieght hauled too cheaply. Tri-state was only giving drivers a $1.00 a mile. My personal opinion is that Tri-state might have had some coverage issues as their tractor trailer count has dropped from 90 to 40 units. Tri-state is currently losing many units either due to the above or low milage rates along with increasing deadhead. Don't mistake my opinion for saying they are a poor company. They are a good company that needs to make some adjustments or they will start to experience a difficult period ahead. We have decided to pull our truck from their fleet for the above reasons. If they improve and revamp many of their policies we would be happy to return. It is real simple to understand but because of competition ect. can be difficult to fix. They have to understand that you can't run at a $1.00 a mile and have any excessive deadhead. In addition, they need to eliminate all, and I do mean all, loads that are based on HHG milage. Give them to your competitors as they will eventually fail keeping this policy for any length of time. Our CPM went from .90 cents to .63 cents per mile after their seperation from GM. You can't operate in todays environment at those rates.

Amen, Dave! I've been saying this for a long time now. And the sooner the rest of the expediting industry comes full circle and realizes that they are, in fact, in a PREMIUM SERVICE BUSINESS -and charge for it- the sooner they can quit hiring on 25 new trucks every week. Any industry with a turnaround of what appears to be about 6 months in personnel is in trouble. Tri State may just be the tip of the iceberg towards a light at the end of the tunnel (that last sentence sounds like something from Yogi Bera).
