This cop did something good

LOS said he frequently sees cops changing tires. My reaction was, "How many decades ago?"

But I saw it this morning, a state trooper changing a woman's tire on the inside shoulder of a busy Chicago expressway. I think it was this morning. Either that, or I went back in a time machine.

I see it often, almost on a weekly basis. I have also often seen them sitting behind a vehicle where someone was either changing a tire or working on it with their strobes on to give them protection.

I in no way excuse the actions of some police departments or some officers. I also believe that I will assume that any individual officer is not out to cause problems. I expect that where I am concerned I therefor must act that way towards them.

I have had very few problems with police in general and none with state troopers.

I too have seen it, quite a few times...even officers dodging traffic to get debris off the roadway...their job essentially is to keep our roads safe....

I have seen both Illinois and Wisconsin State Police assisting motorists on numerous occasions including tire changing. I ran in and out of the Chicago railyards for three and a half years and never had a problem with the State Police. The Waukesha County Sheriff is another story. He spent 3 hours going over my 1992 COE with 1,267,000 miles on it only to find a minor oil leak. That ran me out of hours and I had to get it motel.
