yes they do , if you make alternations ,
like taking the jump seat off(for clear emergency Exit) , installing a safety net , having a DOT approved mattress(size/fire resistant...) Ext,
there is a ford dealership in Blair ,NE that install those on PU trucks,
they are very mach knowledgeable and will be happy to fax you a copy of the regulations ,
they can also sell and send you the parts and instructions for a do it your self option.

Okay, I have been doing lots of research. Does one of those extended cab trucks from International or Freightliner(cab is extended 26") qualify as a sleeper for DOT purposes? The trucks do have a divider curtain and a mattress back there.

Yes, I don't think you need all the nets and so forth because you would not be running a team operation.

yes, the extended cab sleeper is dot legal.i used to run cleveland to los angeles in one and got dot'd several times concerning this.never had a problem

Great, that might be a good alternative for me since I'd only be out occasionally. I don't really want to invest in a condo for two nights out per week.

I don't want to seem like I'm harping on this but try to only run your share of the "overnighters" there is no profit in them. The deadhead will eat all of your profit.

Point taken, Think I will stick to a day cab to start and move to a sleeper if need be
