From what I see, it's bad with all types of freight / size of trucks.
Not just amount, but what they are paying. Tough time to come back unless you land somewhere with a ton of regular customers

Yup, 2023 was disastrous and 2024 is not looking any better. I would stay clear. Many if they haven't been forced out are looking to exit.

Do not do it unless you are an owner operator or a company driver. 1099 is a scam.
Are they still doing "Driver Inc" type scams in USA?
I'm free to say yes or no or get as many customers as I please.
