I just feel like picking on brokers here. No real reason, except that I'm still waiting on my van to be fixed and I might as well direct some frustration at them. They're an easy target, after all.
I always post my vehicle on different web sites that I have accounts with or have access to, and lately I have been listing vehicles for other independents as well, the largest of these being a 22' straight. So today has been the day for my phone to ring off the hook, all brokers calling for the services of that 22 footer. You would think I would have been able to give some good news to the owner of that truck, but no. Every single load offer is for a 53' trailer. The darn thing is listed as a 22' straight, not a tractor with a 53' trailer.
The other day before my Sprinter decided to rid itself of a serpentine belt, I got at least three calls for that vehicle from brokers with loads in excess of 20,000 lbs. Does anyone know of a Sprinter that can handle that much weight? I know there are some carriers that would try to put that much on one, but I usually try to put a bit less than that on mine.
It's really kind of funny how many times I will put a description of a vehicle in a listing and get calls with loads that are for vehicles over twice the size. So now it's not just the mathematical abilities that brokers are lacking in, but apparently their reading ability isn't that good either. You wonder how any of them can succeed.
