Teamsters vs Toys R US

Yeah.....that pesky freedom thing just gets in the way of progress. Helllllooooo......China is a dictatorship, it is a lot easier to get things done when you do not have to listen to the people and do what you want because you, the Government, calls the shots, and you, the people, have no say in the matter.

Who cares if the unions are going after a company that buys its stuff from China. I like the fact they are going after companies like this and calling them out on what and who they are buying from. Its not the unions or the Government or China that anyone should be upset with, its ourselves, the U.S. citizen we should be upset with. We have become a consuming nation and not a manufactoring nation, we don't make anything but want everything. Supply and demand.

By the way, do you happen to have the link to your story? I'd like to know more about the situation.

See there you go didnt read Chef post? he had a link then also Foxnews.com had a story about this not sure but CNN might have had something about this and the Unions main interest is Unoin membership which is ok except when they try to lie and say everything made overseas is bad Looks like if the Unions and you had your way nothing would be made outside the US and maybe you want what the Unions want to force everyone to belong to the Unions

Yeah, so I didn't read Chef's post, big deal. I don't read any of his posts.

he had a link

I didn't ask Chef for a link, I asked you for the link that you read, if you had one.

Unions main interest is Unoin membership which is ok except when they try to lie and say everything made overseas is bad

Really? That's what the unions are saying? Everything made overseas is bad?

See, that is why I asked for the link to your article you read so I could see for myself. I'll just take your word for it.

Looks like if the Unions and you had your way nothing would be made outside the US

Ummmm.....yeah, wouldn't you rather things be made here? I'm confused.

and maybe you want what the Unions want to force everyone to belong to the Unions

Okay dude, you don't like unions, I get that. But you really need to turn off Beck and Limbaugh. I am listening to Limbaugh right now and ironically he is talking about unions. Its a conspiracy......Obama and the unions are taking over, starting with the TSA......this just might blow your mind: Beck's world: Obama may be unionizing TSA to create "private army" | Media Matters for America

You will have to excuse me, I have an article to read about how the unions are taking away Christmas from millions of children because they are taking down Toy 'R' Us.

Oh and you must think the Unions are so great and never do anything wrong and yes they cry about everything made overseas gee bad products , low wages compared to the US that would be true but again the cost of living in India or where ever maybe less than the US, I want product s at a price I am willing to pay for if that product is made just as good somewhere else at a better price then so be it we are an evolving country gee we came into the manufacturing era then we came into the internet era and who knows what will be next big thing to get our enconomy rolling depends on the freedoms allowed for people to take the risks people like Bill Gates and others. As for a link I am not as computer savvy as you I guess All I can tell you is go to Foxnews.com

Regardless of the artificially low Chinese currency, if North American companies didn't have to pay such exhorbitant wages, benefit and pension costs to unskilled line monkeys, just so they can enjoy the same standard of living as someone who actually has a brain in their head and uses it, then we would be able to better compete.

Why do you think North American production everywhere is being moved offshore or to Mexico?

It's the unions that are destroying North America, not the Chinese or anybody else.

As far as quality of product goes, there is just as much low quality garbage produced on this continent just as there is also a lot of good quality product coming from offshore. You just have to evaluate each product on it's individual merits.

Funny, I've heard the same thing about people in the trucking industry.

Simple. Profits. You think its only because of the unions????

I agree, get rid of them. You will still see the jobs going overseas. Why? Because of profit. You see, when the bottom line is all that matters, everything else is thrown out the window. Since China is a dictatorship, they will always be able to produce things cheaper than us.

If you think that all unions are bad and our Government does not have our best interest ever in mind and wants to control us, then there's no point in continuing the conversation. Go back to listening to Limbaugh. Be careful though, Obama and his administration are out to get you. Keep your head on swivel my man.

Unions use to be good and some may still be but they have gotten to big and power and I dont want the so called card check or to do away with secret ballot when voting for or against unions and gee we keep seeing the media going inside companies and how they are run and looking at their books and crying about how the company spends company money let s have a look inside the unions and see how they are run and how the money they get is spent. Yes maybe the govt has our best interest in mind. but global warming is BS and I dont want the so called cap and trade crap and the other excessive regulation they want on business gee I do think Obama is out to get us to go to his idea of Socialism

Without question, absolutely. The unions, every one of them, will tell you that anything made by a non-union worker is inferior, and doubly so if it's made by a foreign non-union worker.

But you really need to turn off Beck and Limbaugh. I am listening to Limbaugh right now...
I cannot even begin to tell you how funny that is.

The last time the government had the best interest of the people in mind was when John Adams was president, and then it didn't take him long to do away with that silly notion. The best interest of the people were flushed down the toilet when he signed into law the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, a collection of four acts that were not even remotely close to having the best interest of the people in mind. The Naturalization Act of June 18, The Alien Act of June 24, The Alien Enemies Act of July 6, and the Sedition Act of July 14.

These four acts were passed to suppress Republican opposition, plain and simple. The Naturalization Act changed the period of residence required before an immigrant could attain American citizenship to 14 years (naturalized citizens tended to vote for the Democratic-Republicans). The Alien Friends Act and the Alien Enemies Act allowed the president to deport any foreigner he thought dangerous to the country. The Sedition Act made it a crime to publish "false, scandalous, and malicious writing" against the government or its officials. Punishments included 2–5 years in prison and fines of up to $5,000.

While the four acts were later repealed, the notion of putting yourself and your party first, far ahead of the best interests of the American People, has never been repealed and is alive and well and living inside the Beltway. The government NEVER has the best interest of the American People in mind. Ever.

I dont think the unions are saying that anything made by a non-union worker is inferior. I think what they say is that if it is made by people making 8,9,10 an hr it probably is inferior. reason being that any company paying those wages probably have alot of turnover of employees which creates quality problems, happens even in a union shop if there is a period of hiring alot of new workers in a year. But most union shops dont have a constant turnover of employees.
