Rookie Expediter
I have been considering Expediting for a few months now. I haven't contacted a recruiter yet.

I have a CDL-A but I am considering a Sprinter type van. Planning on going to the post office to apply for a Visa tommorrow.

I am most interested in Fed-Ex CC right now. I have never worked for a huge company like Fed-Ex before. I feel like they should have more loads which means less dead head. On the other hand I don't want to be a small fish in a big pond.

I talked to a Express 1 driver at a Loves a few days ago and he said he was busy and making money.

Right now I am delivering Motor Homes out of Elkhart In. There really isn't much money to be made. They nickle and dime you to death.

I really dont want to get into a lease to own program. It makes me feel like I would have less control over my own success.

Welcome!
One thing I think you have wrong is that FedEx has more loads because they are bigger, or more well known [to the general public]. Other carriers have access to the same load boards, and many have their own [more or less] loyal customers. If you wouldn't like being a small fish in a big pond, I'd suggest looking at some smaller carriers, of which there are many reputable examples. FedEx is the carrier of choice for many happy contractors, but they are definitely a big pond to swim in.
And I'm not sure what you meant by referring to a visa, but if you're not a US citizen, I'd mention that in any inquiries, in case it's a deal breaker for any of the carriers that interest you.
