Got a Question for you Sprinter guys and gals what is the max product weight you can haul in a sprinter I have been told 2,000 that seems kind of high to me.

depends of what you have in it such as bed etc etc i have a 2500 it will hold a 3000lb load, but i try to stay away from loads that heavy, because fuel mileage is noticibly less...and the motor works a lot harder in the mountains

The Sprinter 2500 high roof 158" wheelbase, which is probably the most commonly used as an expediter, has the worst payload capacity of any Sprinter model. That said, it's able to carry 3,308 pounds but that includes you and anything you put in it. If I were doing a Sprinter it would be the 3500 high roof 158" wheelbase model with a load capacity of 4,531 pounds. I wouldn't run it at max but I'd outfit it very comfortably and not have to worry about too much weight for my creature comforts. It would still easily carry 2500 pounds of freight with a good margin left. You can check them out here:

The last time I looked which was in 2004 the Sprinter 3500 long wheel base had the duel axle which would not fit a Skid between the Wheelwells.

It has duals. There is a dealer in PA who modifies the wheelwells to take skids. I'm sure others can do the same thing. I'd expect it to feel more stable on 15" duals than 16" singles as well as handling weight better.

My Sprinter doesn't have a lot of options so my load capacity is over 3500lbs. I've had it maxed out a couple of times but only for short runs. For long hauls I prefer to keep it at 2500 and under. 1700lbs in the hills makes the thing get a workout.
Definitely the higher weight eats fuel. I took a 2700lb load for a 250 mile run and fuel consumption was 20mpg. Performance with with 1500lbs is still rather good. Running a 2500 140 unit.

You must remember about the states that make you go through weigh stations. If you're overweight you'll have to pay a fine, probably about $300. You have to keep your weight under the gross stated by the manufacturer, which for the Sprinter 2500 is 8,550 lbs. To find the maximum weight of freight that you can carry legally, take your empty Sprinter to a truckstop with a full tank of fuel and weigh your Sprinter on the truck scale, then subtract that number from 8,550. Depending on how much your personal belongings weigh, you'll probably get a result between 2,500 and 2,800 lbs. Of course, if you want you can just circle around the weigh stations so you can load in as much freight as you want. Going by how my Sprinter acts with heavy loads, I recommend 2,700 as the maximum weight of freight.
