You must remember about the states that make you go through weigh stations. If you're overweight you'll have to pay a fine, probably about $300. You have to keep your weight under the gross stated by the manufacturer, which for the Sprinter 2500 is 8,550 lbs. To find the maximum weight of freight that you can carry legally, take your empty Sprinter to a truckstop with a full tank of fuel and weigh your Sprinter on the truck scale, then subtract that number from 8,550. Depending on how much your personal belongings weigh, you'll probably get a result between 2,500 and 2,800 lbs. Of course, if you want you can just circle around the weigh stations so you can load in as much freight as you want. Going by how my Sprinter acts with heavy loads, I recommend 2,700 as the maximum weight of freight.
