Spark Plugs

A friend of mine recently changed his plugs.

He asked me today which plug was rated the best.

He has a 6.0L Chevy 3500 and he put in a set of Bosch plugs.

Roger was also asking if the double or triple tip electrodes were worth the extra money and did they really provide any benefit.

I told Roger that I would ask the experts on EO.

So, what do you think folks?

Stockers! Bosch with the extra prongs and stuff is equal to snake oil. Iridium, eh they are good, but worht it? NO.. Just put the stock cheapo's in and replace every so often.

There is no advantage over higher prices. Almost the same thing with spark plug wires.

My mechanic claims spark plugs are often designed for specific engines and application. I use an AC plug designed for my 6.0L engine.

My experience: I try to replace the sparkplugs in my 5.4L Ford engine every 100,000 miles but sometimes it's 125,000 or so before I get around to it. I've always tried to use the Motorcraft platinum plugs from a Ford dealer and I've never had one of them give any problem or seen any drop in fuel milage.
One change I had the wife to run to town to get the plugs while I was getting things moved out of the way and the old plugs out. She didn't want to drive the extra 20 miles to the Ford dealer so came back with AC platinums. I wasn't happy but put them in anyway. About 60,000 miles later engine started skipping. Got some Motorcrafts and swapped plugs. Every one of the electrodes on the AC's were eroded badly. Those things are too hard to change so I will never use anything but genuine Motorcraft again.
Just my experience! Take it as you will.

When I had my chevy gasser I used AC plugs from the dealer. I changed them every 100k never had any problems. I just had a van driver in gd rapids the other day talking about spark plugs and tune-ups he had put in some autolites 32k ago and the engine started missing on 1 cylinder this weekend so he had went back to AC, he said it runs like new. Hopes this helps!!!!

The stock plugs are iridium, platnum is good, but iridium is best. I have a fleet of 3500 cutaways with 6.0, and there is is a noticable differance between the two. Stay away from those bosch plugs, very poor product, horrible gas milage, no power. NGK or Denso are your best bet
