They could always bundle with another load and ship it on a 53' trailer and save money......just putting it out there, because who knows what the future holds

Well sure they can but this is expediting. People want it right away/now. People might only want there freight on there and not mixing with others. It just depends on the customer cause there paying for it!
As far as the future goes, no one knows what it holds!
Last week I did a load from GA to KS. One pallet. They shipped it a week prior LTL but got stuck in Chattanooga. They needed it the next day so they called us. And it was delivered on time.
So sure, you can ship stuff way cheaper than what we charge, but it might not get there in time.
