My Dad was in, what was then known as French Indo-China, when he received the radio message to stop fighting. Most of his unit, the Mars Task Force, was in Vietnam being staged for the invasion of Japan.

The first two US soldiers officially listed as KIA in Vietnam were from my unit, ASA.
