RV style Holding tank dump stations

For those of you lucky enough to have water onboard your trucks, how easy is it to find a dump station for your holding tanks? A question arose this morning at my job, we have a Trendsetter coach for shuttling drivers, and it has insulated tanks. We're in the northeast and need to find a place, or several places to dump the tanks. WIth winter on our doorstep, this is becoming an issue, it mainly runs the I81 corridor between Roanoke VA and Canada. Are there any stations you know of along that route? In your experience do they stay open during the winter months? Thanks for your assistance

The place we always dump was Flying J Truckstops, or a camper/RV sales and service center. Hope this helps.

Can't help you much by telling you what to do, just don't know. But here's a news item that shows something you should definately NOT do!

"The Illinois Attorney General's office says [the Dave Matthews Band are] responsible for dumping up to 800-gallons of raw human waste from a tour bus onto the Kinzie Street Bridge earlier this month.

The nasty mess rained down on passengers aboard a sightseeing boat two weeks ago.

The lawsuit accuses the band and one of its tour bus drivers, Stefan Wohl, of violating state water pollution and public nuisance laws. It seeks $70,000 in civil penalties."

Note that in Chicago, some bridges surfaces are iron mesh open to the river below.

We use flyin J. There are many RV places as well.
They have RV guides that usually have lists as well.

Glen, dave,
thanks for the tip, Luckily there are several Flying J's along that route, I'll pass that along to my terminal manager.
We have a drive-away account, complete with chase-RV to bring the drivers back to the origin point. I may even dust off my license and go drive for that account on my 'off' weeks. I work a wierd schedule, 5 days on, 5 days off, two days on, two days off. So every other week I've got time to spare from my regular shift, technically 'nights' instead of days. My assistant terminal manager encouraged me to get back on the road that way just the other day. Something to think about.
Thanks again!

Incredible, simply incredible. What is worse is I can just see someone thinking, 'oh it will just run into the sewers'
Coaches modified as RV's generally have 150Gallon waste tanks, that's a lot of effluent. $70,000 is cheap compared to what it should have been.

there is a rv guide available at ta that is published by the same company that does the truckstop guide, except it lists rv dumps by state nationwide and canada.

I saw that article too.
I think the news media are like fishermen -- telling tales how big it was.

800 gallons is a hell of a lot of (well) crap.
I have a converted commercial bus with a 90-gal waste tank -- most are 100, 150 gal.

800 gal would pretty much consume each and every bay on a commercial coach.

I've noticed that a good portion of the bigger truck stops such as the j,ta and pilots now have dump stations along with alot of the newer rest areas and turnpike service plazas in oh and pa.

One part of that tour bus story says 800 gallons, the other 800 lbs. The 800 lbs would be about 100 gallons, probably the correct figure, but still a lot ofx( Oh well I'm sure Dave can deal with 70 grand:7
