I have taken a small dedicated run for a few months, so its the same pick up point and drop point each day. I have had time to realize how to save gas again. slow down slow down slow down. I have been experimenting with speed, so my b3500 dodge cargo van will produce 17mpg at 61 miles per hr and drops to 15 mpg at 68mph. So this is simple to all of u who are running 75 and 85 mph. I have also noticed that at 61mphr that I really don't lose time even when I do run at 75 mph like I use to do. try it,,u might save gas tooooo..........PS u can see the world go by, and u wont be late either, sky.

You are sooo right...

I watch some guys hustle and speed to get their load off so they can get the next load quicker and get that extra load....

To what end....after running fast they need the extra load just to pay for the fuel they used in the previous runs to make up for it....
doesn't make sense to work for free....

run slower, work less, make more....:D

Putting some real numbers to it, and putting it into straight truck perspective, running 70 for 8mpg with $2.50 fuel and 100k miles annually takes 12,500 gallons costing $31,250. Slow down to 60 and get 9mpg and use 11,111 gallons costing $27,778 keeping $3472 in your pocket. Run the same miles in a tractor at 5.5/6.5 mpg and it's $6993 in your pocket.

Exactly...some break their butts to get their only to find they do it again and again....all the while the mileage on the truck starts to catch up with wear and tear...then what?

for the number crunchers..if my truck, outlasts your truck, by 2 years
which are identical...who is making the money?

Keep it slow and steady and manage your stops well and you should save fuel and make all your drops early.
