First off, I have been reading, reading and reading till my head is spinning with information on this forum, from what company to go with to start, to expecting delays, deadhead miles, what kind of truck when you decide to buy one, mileage, trucks, etc. Wow, a lot of information to process in a little brain!
The amount of information on this forum has been incredibly valuable and I want to thank everyone for their input as I know most are out there working to make a living but also wanting to give those that are new and unexperienced some confidence in what they can/will expect down the road being an expediter.
I (oops, talking for myself and Mike, aka Kitty Litter is OTR, but just as ready as me to start a new career) had expected to start in the spring but as it is, I have all I can take (so has Kitty Litter) in our present jobs. I have been working as an office manager for an environmental consulting firm for over 8 years and have gotten where the politics and bs over favortism are more than I can tolerate any longer. No more said.
I come from a family of drivers but do not have a CDL and am getting ready to take my tests (I always hated taking tests, but I will not fail). Mike is CDL "A" certified and can train me, but I want to be able to hit the road where the two of us will be able to drive our alotted time with the HOS laws (working in a "D" unit) and make some money.
Should it be that I have to get a permit license to start with, what company(ies) should we look at and what type of income can we expect?
Any input would be greatly and sincerely appreciated.
