Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-four percent (54%) disapprove.

While individual daily tracking results occasionally display the appearance of volatility, the long-term trend for the president’s numbers is remarkably stable.

Over the past five months, with more than 150 updates, the president’s overall approval rating has been within four points of today’s result on every day but one. It has been within three points on every day but five.

Keep in mind that those five months included the passage of health care, the Gulf Oil Spill, and a significant stock market decline. For the moment, nothing appears able to shift public perceptions of the president.

You can fool some of the people all of the time.....

With teacher's unions insuring nothing is taught and the socialists encouraging stupidity of the populace it's no wonder. Make enough of the populace stupid and make them think they're hands can always be out and you'll certainly get those results.

you would have thought with all the issues over the last 5-6 months there would have been a bigger drop?

Wonder if they are just sticking to the bigger cities in these polls? They are usually a Dem strong hold....Cut welfare benefits and watch them numbers drop...

As mentioned in an earlier post - if Obama had been held to the same critical standard by the mainstream media as Bush was during Katrina, his approval ratings would be in the 30s. As things stand now, the blame has been focused on BP and the perception by the public is that they weren't prepared for a disaster of this magnitude and were shortcutting safety measures. What hasn't been brought out is the Obama administration's complete ineptness in crisis management. A few stories from the locals in the Gulf Coast areas are starting to leak out, but they've been largely ignored by the MSM.

This may serve to play into the hands of the GOP if they're so-called leadership has the awareness to take advantage of it. In another thirty days, we'll be getting into the core of the election season. The GOP should be sending their elected officials down there every week to draw attention to the shortcomings of Obama's bungling bureaucrats. The governors of AL, MS and LA should be on the tube every night calling attention to the failures of the feds, and how they've been frustrated in their attempts to facilitate cleanup efforts at the local level.

Even now, they should be shouting to the rooftops about the jobs being lost due to the moratorium imposed by Obama and his stooges. How do you think the MSM would have reacted if Bush's SecInt had brazenly defied the court order overturning a moratorium costing tens of thousands of badly needed jobs? They would have demanded the resignation or the firing of a dunce like Salazar, who is only doing Obama's bidding. Instead, the focus of blame continues on BP while as time passes the Obama administration becomes increasingly responsible for the problems resulting from the law of unintended consequences and their lack of management and executive expertise.

If the GOP can use this issue to nationalize the election like they did in '94, they'll have a chance to take control of at least one house of congress and perhaps both. Hopefully, one or more of their rising stars will take the ball and run with it instead of waiting on John Boehner or Michael Steele to do the heavy lifting.

Well wonder which group of democrats they polled?

He may have other issues on his hands soon enough. The oil spill (leak) is one issue that the people are starting to wise up about, even though it isn't talked about the effect of having no drilling permits approved since, not just deep water ones, has a lot of companies laying off people.

BUT that's not the real thing that may cause the messiah problems, it seems there are two little insignificant issues that have to do with Chicago politics, one is the Blogo "I have a senate seat ... anyone want a senate seat" scandal and the other is the talked about Black Panther/DoJ voter's rights violations that the AG has swept under the rug with his bosses approval.

If Blogo gets his way, he may bring the messiah, robe, Greek pillars and all, to federal court to answer questions by the defense or at the very least make sure that he and others stay connected to his case.

The black panther thing is another issue, it is really important that it doesn't just go away but brought to light. As one civil rights lawyer (and life long democrat) pointed out, this issue needs to be fully investigated and people prosecuted, including the people at the top who are covering it up.
