This most likely doesnt belong here, but since this is the easiest spot,I'm asking this question. This has bothered me for over 40 years, and I have never gotten an answer, couldnt even get in my political science class at Akron University,so here we go.We just had an election, and the democrat person won,but what would have happened,If neither of the parties received a vote, after all,one man has no experience, the other is to close to the present administration.Personally, what our country is in for, whom ever the president is, is in for a hard time, but back to the question,if all voted as in the Eddie Murphy movie, non of the above, what would have happened?

well technically thenut job who changed his name to that would be our persident we know he's outthee we have seen him trying to wash car windows at the stop sign.

outside of that i think every year Mickey Mouse gets more and more votes. now mickey is walt just as kermit is jim so what happens when we vote for an already dead personage i don't know

if pe chance all did vote NOTA and there was not a personthathad changed his name to that some where in the usa then it would then boil down to whos presidental family was bigger

The electorial collage would then pick the president. Because not all states have the rule that they must vote as their state popular vote went.

A miracle would happen and a party other than the Republicans and Democrats would get in. Why is it no one (in significant numbers) will ever consider anyone that doesn't have D or R after their name?

Well, that might be the case, in theory. But today, Dick Cheney might well have declared all power to him. Seems far-fetched? Didn't Alexander Haig once say he was the next in line after Reagan was shot? Point: the mind-set of all politicians in the top positions is we are smarter than you and have the right to rule over the hoy-polloy.

The answer lies directly in our constitution:

12 th amendment

The person having the greatest Number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice. And if the House of Representatives shall not choose a President whenever the right of choice shall devolve upon them, before the fourth day of March next following, then the Vice-President shall act as President, as in the case of the death or other constitutional disability of the President.[1]

The person having the greatest number of votes as Vice-President, shall be the Vice-President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed, and if no person have a majority, then from the two highest numbers on the list, the Senate shall choose the Vice-President; a quorum for the purpose shall consist of two-thirds of the whole number of Senators, and a majority of the whole number shall be necessary to a choice. But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.[2]

but haig was 4th on the list maybe 5th can't remeber anyway it was a stupid thing to say and shows how little our representives actually know what the constitution says

It does not matter if 1,000,000 people or 0 people vote. If each has 500,000 votes it's a tie and if no one at all votes then it is still a tie 0 to 0.
