Question About Vans

I have a situation where I can buy a Cargo Van. The van is an 01 Chevy 2500. Very Low Mileage used at a local business that closed up. My problem is the company I have my straight truck said while they did have a couple of vans, they would sign it on but they were doing much right now with them money wise. I contacted other companies that were not taking Cargo Vans. They wanted Sprinters. More compnanies were going to this. I was shocked. I did talk to Panther and they were taking them, I just didn't want to go that route(not bashing) Anyway anyone out there have any ideas. I could continue to call each and every one company or ask you guys and get info. I have contacted Panther, Fed EX CC, Nations Express, and Tri-State already

Thanks

Are you going to drive it? If not, it's hardly worth looking into. There isn't enough money in vans to split between an owner and a driver. Every company would rather have Sprinters or Aerocells to get the 52" auto tubs into, among other things. I have no idea about vans going on now, but Express-1 is a good company and does run B units.

Every company has a stated age maximum however many of them will inspect a vehicle outside the range and if it's in good shape will make an exception. I've never heard of any that have an 8 year minimum althought I have heard of 6 years. In any event, I'd call any company I was interested in rather than relying only on what's on the web.

I believe that the concern on the part of those carriers you listed would be more directed toward the age of the van and not solely the type of van.

FedEx, Tri State and Panther do take cargo vans. Nations Express does lean more heavily toward Sprinters, but they have some cargo vans in their fleet.

I know where there is a 2005 Chevy Express 3500 Extended WB with a 6.0L engine that the dealer has been unable to sell. It is a small farming community and I think it may have been ordered for someone who changed their mind. It is base van with only the driver's seat and AM/FM radio but for $19,500 it looks like a great buy! You might be able to get a 5yr/100K warranty in the deal. I would imagine they would love to get it out of their inventory.
