Progressive Insurance

Just trying to get this cleared up. I've called 4-5 insurance agents and half of them are saying that Progressive Commercial only covers up to 500 miles. While the other half say I will be covered Unlimited. It is my understanding that most cargo van expediters have insurance through CIS ? (Progressive Commercial) so what am I missing. Quotes from other company's are $6000 all the way up to $10,000.

Have you talked to CIS? They are the ones to talk to. There's CIS and there's everyone else. Don't waste any more of your time and talk to CIS. Unless you live in one of the enclaves that won't allow Progressive, CIS will get you set up.

I talked to CIS they weren't able to help me. I am based out of California. I am pretty sure Progressive's Prices are hard to beat but just want to be clear on what coverage I will be getting.

Motor Carrier Coverage Limitations
Progressive’s motor carrier insurance has a radius of operation restriction of up to 500 miles on policies with liability coverage, depending on your state. This restriction helps us provide superior motor carrier coverage products and services for regional and local trucking businesses. Keep in mind that we calculate our radius of operations as the crow flies instead of in road miles, so 500 miles can actually cover a fairly large area.
This restriction does not apply to Physical Damage and Non-Trucking Liability coverage.

You have my deepest sympathy. Hopefully someone familiar with your area will speak up. Good luck.

I carry a copy of my Progressive policy. Where it says "Radius" it clearly says N/A. I was asked if I intended to stay within a 500 mile radius, I choose unlimited radius. And it's less then $3,100 per year. That's for 1 million liability and $100K cargo and van insured for $8,500 but also included roadside assistance and rental reimbursement while my van is in the shop for repairs due to an accident. Purchased through CIS

Apparently, CA is not where you need your legal residence. I think I heard Florida generated ridiculous rates too.
