Seems like this is Irresponsible behavior to say the least.

"The Highway Patrol may not want to pursue it because it involves another police officer and may create some bruised feelings between the agencies, that's up to the highway patrol," said Harms.

Harms is the former Miami chief of popo. It was a Miami popo that the State trooper pulled over for going 120 in a non-emergency. IMO, there should be no bruised feelings if a cop is acting like a retard, and is a danger to others. If the popo can't understand that, then it's obvious the Police Academy let some crackheads loose on the public.

When I worked at Cabela's and at Gander Mountain you could be fired if convicted of a deliberate game law violation. The same should apply here. That is, IF, the department of the offending officer has any credibility.

Back home there was a county sheriff that was killed when he wrapped his cruiser around a tree because he was just cruising around at a high rate of speed.

Ya see if I were that counties commissioner or whatever....I would have filed a claim against that officers estate for the cost of that cruiser....that is taxpayers money right there....

Insurance would pay for it. But the insurance company probably went after the officer's bond, assuming a bond would cover something like this.

When OVM mentioned it I started trying to research it to see if they mentioned who paid the bill. It was a young guy, I believe he was 23, he was on a joy ride on his way to work so he wasn't considered as being killed on duty. A few years ago the county decided that all deputies would bring the cruisers home and that they could be called to report anytime along with their regular shifts. I'm not sure if that would have an impact on the bond.
