Percentage vs Mileage

Due to bad management at my current company I'm out looking for a small company where 1) I'll be a name instead of a number and 2) doesn't rely on GM for 99.9% of it's loads. I've come across a couple who pay on percentage, instead of the mileage that I'm used to.

Anyone have any strong feelings on this issue? Thanks.

You can run as a name at Express-1. They are small enough to work on a first name basis and also pay cpm not percentage. Some say you make more on percentage but I've never run that way so I don't know personally. Good luck to you.

As long as you can verify the percentage, I think you would be ok.
The majority of carriers are all bidding on the same freight.
Their total payout is going to be simular.
The difference is whether they can keep you running at a profit.
We have done both, and sometimes one wins over the other.
It is the dollars at the end of the month that will make the difference.

I've done both at the same company. In my case, I make more with the cpm option.

I like to use the same math, I know they know it keeps everything honest. Too much can go wrong with % in a couple of weeks when you thought you were getting Y instead of X.
