well i just went down to the secretary of the state and passed my class b permit with airbrakes, and my dot physical..the next huge hurdle is taking a driving test...and of course haz-mat..i have found out after talking to a half a dozen recruiters that honestly i wouldnt be a great candidate to drive for an owner of a straight truck..because of my, have to commitment to the michigan national gaurds..one weekend a month, which is friday saturday and sunday..and two weeks of annual training in the summer...everyone seems to say in these forums to drive for someone else first...personally i would love to...i also talked to a few recruiters for full sized semis..they seamed to be much more responsive to my committments..however all you see in a big rig is pavement...expediting is the way to go for me......any way you look at it a new expediting truck will set me back 100,000.00 this is a huge investment for me...my house cost just over that and it has a pool.....however most companys advertise no-force dispatch..i would be home on time (probably at a huge expense)...and loss of income...i was self employed for the last 14 years, so being a business owner doesnt bother me...what i want to no from some of the pros here is this feasible, to make a great living from driving...my household expenses are around 3000.00 a month right now...i have no idea what a truck payment and ins and the rest of the goodies would cost a month... my debt ratio per month might be higher then any income, coming in from expediting.... of course you would never buy into a loss...this is something i have looked at for the last couple of months...ive read these forums until i was almost blind lol..any info would be appreciated...thanks SGT Brian R LaVictor USARMYNG
