Panther is just an expedite co. UPS did purchase Menlo over the winter. Menlo is a logistics supplier to some auto and truck manufacturers. They are (UPS) trying to determine if they will continue/expand their expedite division. They are taking no apps for expeditors at the present.

Didn't I read somewhere that UPS closed the old EMERY AIR FREIGHT hub in Dayton O?
I remember 30 years ago when Emery was the biggest of the air freight companies. FedEx hadn't been formed and UPS was strictly ground. Of course, REA Express was still in business (sorta) too.
When REA was at full swing, they had a contract with the airlines for the last flight every day.Exclusive use for airfreight.
The average age of their employees was 57. USPS wanted that contract with those airlines for their newly formed "Express Mail" and they got it..The end of a 100 year old company REA gone forever. Not necessarily at the hand of USPS.The government took over the pension plan and retirees received a pension that they might have never seen.
