OPTI diesel generators...

It looks like one of them Chinese generators. They are pretty much all the same, know only a few who have one and they work to a point - many of them break engine mounts. IF you do get one, get both a service kit and overhaul kit for the unit plus see if you can get generator bearings too so you will have the parts to fix it.
I bought one from ebay 8 months ago that didn't last but went out in only 3 months.It was probably my fault, since I would have the portable ac on and then crank it up with the remote pad.The engine,piston/bearings went out in 3 months.the owner, who gets them in container loads directly from China, gave me a used one with 3500/4000 watts.This was to replace the 6500 watt generator which went out.I also paid a small difference.I have had the 3500watt diesel generator for the past 6 months and so far so good.The most common problem I have had with both is that the remote pad acts up.Sometimes it works with the remote and sometimes not.The owner of OPTI is in atlanta and he only does warranty work and not repairs.They both did burn much diesel.I could only get 8 hrs out of the 6500(4.2gallons of diesel) watta gen. and 10hrs(3.3gal) from the 3500/4000 watt gen.I like my AST generator better and which I bought from Walmart.The ASt has a honda knock off engine and the only problem was the oil shut off switch which went out.The AST is also better than the Prosource gen. which Big Lots carry.I use the OPTI on my Columbia and the AST on my Century.They all go through the rattles of the road and their bearings are holding up.The AST is gasoline and seem to get flooded at times, even with the choke and carb off.Nothing beats the OPTI's fuel, which is diesel.
