I thinks the distrust and almost hatred of Mexican truckers is directly related to the immigration issue. One has nothing to do with another only when you figure in old fashioned paranoia and job protectionism. If American truckers weren't so afraid to cross the border the issue wouldn't be so prevailent.
I was surprised by the figures that 23.4% of U.S. trucks checked failed inspection as compared to only 21.1% of Mexican trucks. I realize figures can be worked around.

NAFTA will remain...live with it.

My hope is one day anything made in North America we won't need to do that broker crap.

I have no problem saying I don't like Mexicans. A few bad ones you can overlook. When nearly 10 percent of the total U.S. population is current or former criminal aliens there's a HUGE problem. I don't like that the legal ones don't make it pure he11 for the illegals. I'd like to see a red zone along our border just like the one I viewed at age 9 between the east and west German border. The only difference is the land mines and shoot to kill policy would be to keep people out not in.

I see these protestors on TV and they think the U.S. owes them something???? Its pathetic! They are whinning and crying about getting deported that they've been here 15 years illegal they have jobs....WHY did they not get legal??? I say THROW them OUT!! The employers that hired them might have to work themselves for awhile till they can get a LEGAL work permit.

For my part, while I am concerned about safety, I'm also concerned about how much money these Mexican carriers are charging to run the freight. Will American drivers be able to compete, or are the Mexican carriers going to be so much cheaper that the shippers will use them every time?

If the mexicans truckers run cheap...

How long will truck last running 2,000 miles at a time?
No money, no fix especially if they breakdown in the U.S.
Theres alot more to this issue...they can only run cheap for so long till the truck runs out.....
They'll see they need more money...things tend to go in circles.

The reason most won't go into Mexico is because of a corrupt law inforcement and insurance issues. You stand a good chance of getting your equipment confiscated and held for financial ransom. That isn't to mention any personal safety issues.
This has went on for years. That is why the self insured are the few that venture in there.
Going to Mexico is much different than entering Canada.

That part I do now understand...Dave

As i poitnted out above....Just how long can they do cheap rates?
Business is business Dave...certain principles apply here, Mexico, any country for that matter...

As to how low or how cheap their rates are will depend on numerous items. They are paying roughly half what we do for fuel. Wages appear to be about half as well. It would seem as if they will be quite competitive.
