On the mental disorder called liberalism

There seem to be so many liberals who feel like freedom is their right to do or say whatever they want whenever they feel like it. Everyone else is supposed to go along with all this in the name of tolerance and compassion. However, this doesn't apply when Ann Coulter is invited to speak on a college campus or Rush Limbaugh voices his opinion on his radio show.

This behavior you speak of is neither the the fault of the liberal nor the conservative for that matter. It is the result of colluded media types massaging the mentality of us. vs. them residing in us all. These verminous weazels have succeeded in pitting us against each other through our deep seated feelings and insecurities in the pursuit of the almighty advertising dollar.

Can we agree that societies need government? To govern is to control. Government is the central controlling authority in our lives.

If it is widely agreed that government is necessary, the question becomes which philsophical approach to government should be dominant. In Western democracies, this struggle for dominance is fought between liberal-leaning citizens and conservative leaners. In absence of a better alternative, one or the other of these two main schools of thought will lead government action. We should be receptive to the possibility of a better idea. Anyone have a better idea that is practical enough to put forth?

Yeah, I'm with the greek dude. Nobody wants to be controlled or manipulated but we all expect the cops to show up when we call them on our screaming drunken neighbor at 2 a.m.

Our system will always be one that rides a sliding scale between progressive and repressive. it is the nature of such things. Society is organic, not to mention fickle.

What progressive? I only see extreme repressive from this government. Now more than ever. EVERYTHING coming out of Washington, for several decades now, has been ways to remove liberty and power fro the People

Perhaps. The point is it ebbs and flows.

It may, but not in my lifetime. Liberty is all but dead. We are close to living in a country ruled by a central government. Which is EXACTLY what the Constitution was set up to stop. Worse yet, a central government with a Marxist economic system. The worst possible combination.
