The media has to make a big deal about it; and several contacted PETA for their "official response". IOW, they're trying to create controversy, and not report news.
Regardless, PETA did their normal shpeel about all creatures are special; and sent Obama a fly-catching device, so he can set them free outside. Frankly, I hope they let their kids get a tarantula, and feed it flies captured by said gift. If Obama keeps alienating his allies, no one will vote for him next time around.
Among the cheers from the galley included a pregnant woman who fainted from the awesome magnitude of the messiah's power over life and death; a Tibetan nerf herder who yelled, "He is the Living Buddha!"; and a jedi warrior who reported to his elders that "the force is strong in this one".
For one, I would join the youtube commenter in asking, "But can he dodge shoes?"
