Newbie help please

I've been reading and doing my best to answer my questions without bothering you guys but gave up.. so here goes.

Im in Charlotte, NC. I have authority, and dispatch my own truck and trailer (a three car hauler) out of Denver colorado. Let me start by saying that I am fully insured DOT compliant and can't make any money with this setup. Its a great tax right off at the moment and thats it.

The above has very little to nothing to do with my question but I thought it was important.

I bought a 1998 GMC6500x 24 ft straight truck with a box and a liftgate to move my own personal items from Denver to Charlotte NC. I saved a fortune.

Now, Im looking at this truck with a cat diesel in it with 118k miles on it and I am saying to myself.. hmmmm can I get in this thing and run expedite or something and make some money? It just so happens I am working out of my house and I could jump in that truck in a moments notice and go.

Okay.. so, my thinking is, if someone knew about me they'd potentially pay me a great deal to do this. Problem is, I have NO FRIGGEN IDEA how to get the business.

I dont think fed ex would have any interest due to age of the truck.. but I would think someone would?

Any help would be appreciated. If I dont get some answers I'll just sell it.. no harm done.. but I hate to pass up an opportunity.

Safehaul, you're probably correct in that FedEx wouldn't accept the truck, but if you have your own authority, why would you need a carrier? There are load boards to learn, and years of EO archives to read, for the information you need, to decide if you want to be an expediter.
What you didn't mention is a sleeper, and whether you're familiar with logging, HOS, and other regulations that we deal with, as OTR drivers.
First you decide if you can do expediting, then you have to decide whether you want to - it's a 24/7 kind of deal, and going on your own authority is a LOT of work, are you up for that?

if you still have the 3 car hauler,your in a much better place,NC to be in the auto business.As a solo driver,hauling cars will make you more than expedite.Tats my opinion
