Hello all, i am new to expediting and just wanted to ask a few questions. I've been reading alot of the post saying there is very little freight. But most are from cargo van and straight truck drivers. Is there freight for tractor trailer o/o's out there? On average what are they doing for mileage a week? Will i be able to make it running solo or do i need to find a team driver? Any and all answers would be helpful. Thank you all in advance.

you welcome Corley.

some time adding a team , especially if the money is not going to the same household , will not work out to be as good as running solo .and more so in slow times .

it will help if you tell more about your self :

what carrier ?
where do you live ?
how many days will you be available to work this year ?how often will you try to get home ?
what are your credentials ? , HM ? ,Canada ?,NYC ?
what truck do you drive ,do you do your own maintenance ? and the fuel millage you get , APU ? truck payments ?
you total household expenses ? health care ?
your cash reserve ? any other income ?

and so on ...

Good luck.

Welcome Corley
1st red flag is the question on miles.
Expedite is a completely different animal from truck load..
Instead of miles=revenue you have to adapt to revenue potential vs cost per mile.
Read back through the archives that is what they are there for and seek mentor ship from owners that run as you desire to run IE solo, team or same household team.
I can tell you this from experience as I have been in your shoes and if you jump right in to Expedite expecting miles per week you are setting yourself up for failure.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSES. I WILL BE WITH PANTHER AND I LIVE 10 MINUTES SOUTH OF INDIANAPOLIS. I PLAN ON GETTING HOME EVERY TWO OR THREE WEEKS. I DO ALL MY OWN MAINTENANCE AND DEPENDING ON WHERE I FUEL, MY TRUCK GETS ABOUT 6.7mpg. AND SO ON AND SO ON.
SO YOUR SAYING DON'T WORRY ABOUT MILES. I SHOULD WORRY ABOUT REVENUE VS. COST PER MILE. HOW DO I FIGURE THAT OUT. PLEASE HELP.
