"Home time is important" If you want to be home every weekend, I would not recommend expediting. One should expect to stay out at least two to three weeks at a time. Just about all of the companies go to Missouri. The only one that I recall being based in that area is Metro Express. Read as many of the posts as you can so you can get a better understanding of what you may be getting into.

I agree, this is not a go home type of job! Three weeks out is reasonable with every company. If you get near the house, take a day off and make yourself available for dispatch. Weekends are another area that too many operators think they can go home for! Not the case in expediting! Sounds like until the kids are grown and gone you better stay in trucking locally. Expediting is a wonderful way of life! Just not "home life". It's sorta like going camping and getting paid to do it. Good luck with your choice and keep us posted how things are working out for you. And again thanks for writing.

All of the replys are correct. Expediting is a way of life and home time is not the way to make money in this business. If you are an O/O I might be able to help you. I do have some possibilities with comapny I lease to and recriut for. In your area I could most likely get you home a couple days a week but it will really limit your income. If you are a driver looking for a ride, I really do not think you will find many owners that will want you to only run five days a week. This business is very different from a normal over the road ride. I wish you the best of luck but if you really want a five day a week ride, I would suggest an LTL company where you run between terminals each day. [email protected]
