Mississippi DOT Working Hard

Anybody else in Miss this week or last? DOT was working hard to earn your dollar. They were out in force at night on the east side of Jackson on the I20. While I managed to dodge all they had there, they finally caught up to me when I scaled on on my way back to Tenn on I55. Full level 1 with the sticker on the windsheild. Then when I scaled at Brownsville, Tn an hour later, they too red lighted me, but must have seen the sticker and let me proceed. Last week and this week both saw Miss working hard. Ironically, I had just had an annual DOT inspect done on my truck by one of the best shops here, so I thought it would be interesting to see if they came up with a defect that my inspector missed. Everything went well.
Well, everything but a log book violation. No BOL number on log and hours not totalled at end of grid. I didn't know they violated me for that until I got home and was looking at the form. They told me evrything was good. Oh well. I figured they would have to tell you of a violation if they found one. Guess that is what I get for thinking.

not totaled is a violation? As in not adding up the number of hours driven on line 3 or do you mean recap?

Well, I had neither. But violations exact wording is: failure to show hours at end of grid. So I take that to mean what it says which would be line 3. You would think they would have informed me of my mistakes in hopes to make me understand what it is that I am doing wrong. While this really has no effect on me, it hurts the company I am leased to. And with almost 20 drivers on his authority, it is becoming a big deal for him. I feel that this is what they do when you get your trucks in good condition. They look harder for something else.

They were out everywhere in PA checking log books. Seems to be a nationwide thing going on. I heard many complaining about the ramp up of inspections in many states. Layoutshooter

What exactly is the green sticker on the windshield for? I have had several over the years and still get pulled in and inspected. I was under the opinion that it was to let them know you were recently inspected or something. Anybody know for sure?
