At a harness track here in Ohio.I once bet on a horse.that the only way he could loose is if the driver fell out of the sulky.Guess what,going in to the last turn,he was so far out front,then bang,sulky turned over and driver fell out of sulky,horse and sulky were 1st but no driver.I lost 1000 bucks

Look where Northville is ... hint Wayne county
She was the Wayne County Corporation Counsel under MacNamara, which meant that she had dealings with Northville and some parties who had money involved with racing and the need to have some things working to their advantage. The same went on under Paterson and Hazelpark.
What will come about this? Not much I venture to guess. There are only three tracks in the entire state and with only two being harness racing, it is more likely they will find some patsy and he will go off to club fed for a bit.

All true, but I question the time before Jenny. I have been a horse racing junkie for more years than i care to admit. Back in the mid 70's the old DRC was owned by the same owner of Hazel Park and this kind of crap was known to be happening then. If it has been so wide spread for so many years, and so bad that even Vegas race books won't touch them (keep in mind, who ran the casinos back then), one would think this would have raise some eyebrows. Just wondering

I think it was a case that the tracks were not like Big A, Meadowlands and other venues where there was a solid presence of organized crime being involved so things went on but didn't.
Instead here we had a lot of people who were involved with the horses that were high profile, Gordy Howe is one who I remember - can't think who managed his horses - and organized crime didn't have a lot of presence which made it appeared clean for a long time and under the radar. Crooked but appeared clean.
There was something that happened in the 70's with DRC and some fixing that was a big deal made out of it but that was quickly swept away by Hoffa disappearing and taking resources out of any investigation.

You know people don't be so quick to blame the tracks... yea, their crooked but so also are the owners of mares and the stud owners/breeding facilities. Having shovelled more sh+t than most here,and being involved in the management of a 300+ horse breeding facility it's not always the tracks who are completely to blame.
