I was watching on the discovery channel about the Bermuda Triangle and I'm apparantly the only one in the WORLD who noticed ALL THE BUBBLES OF METHANE GAS FLOATING TO THE SURFACE!! Say-- one pipeline!! pelousy--harry riek-- HELLO--bubbles.bubbles-ENERGY! Isn't all those methane(hydro carbons) bubbles polluting the EARTH?? Al GORK-- here's a MEGA tax-revenue source!! Or do you put a cap on it? Pollution or revenue??

Should be captured and used. Up here the gov't finally caught onto this idea and is using the methane from the garbage dumps to generate electricity. Mind you small amounts but at least it's something sensible. in england they are now using methane for large scale electricity production and I thought should be done over here as well. Instead of shutting down and losing those coal fired plants, just convert to methane and cheap renewable fuel.

Methane gas isn't a pollutant. Neither is carbon dioxide. They're both greenhouse gases, not pollutants. At one time this planet's atmosphere was chiefly methane.

The largest methane emissions come from the decomposition of wastes in landfills, ruminant digestion (cow farts, mostly, but all cud chewers, like water buffalo, sheep, goats, antelope, deer, bison, camels) and manure management (both in farming and in waste treatment plants) and rice paddies.

Of the natural sources of methane, 11% comes from termites. Other natural sources of methane include swamps and wetlands, gas hydrates, permafrost, oceans, freshwater bodies, non-wetland soils, and other sources such as wildfires.
