Mass shooting du jour

Generally speaking, Conservatives think and speak in terms of systems, where everyone has an equal opportunity. Whether it's elections, the Constitution, whatever. It's not even whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game. Equal opportunity.

Liberals, on the other hand, trend to speak and think I'm terms of Grievances and Goals. Slavery, reparations. You have money and I don't, give me money. How you achieve the goal is irrelevant, reaching the goal is the most important thing. It's now how you play the game, it's whether you win or not. And if you don't win, you have a grievance. And more often then not, grievance turns violent.
So that just proves Trump is a liberal then right?

It's amazing and shocking to see how liberals, liberal institutions like colleges, and traditionally independent institutions like hospitals have chosen to indulge and promote the delusions of the tiny percentage of mentally ill individuals who believe they are something they're not and can never be. Transgenderism is a fiction; men can't physically become women and vice-versa. It's a law of nature. Yet we see promotion and full blown recruitment for this phenomenon going on in places like our public schools and universities. Major hospitals like Johns Hopkins and Vanderbilt have turned irreversible, life-altering surgical procedures into a huge cash cow that indulges the delusions of the mentally ill, and consummates these liberal causes in the name of equity. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - and if the trans group isn't included and embraced the liberals are going to raise hell with anyone who doesn't go along.

The Nashville shooter targeted this Christian school where she was once a student, and in her mind there was a strong motivation to do so. Since her "manifesto" hasn't been released yet we can only speculate what that reason was, but it's fair to say that their beliefs and values went against her warped sense of reality and violence was her only remedy.

Where was the good guys with the gun?
Good question; ME is a gun-friendly state and even has a permitless carry law. But a crowded bowling alley and a restaurant would be pretty soft targets, just the type of places mass shooters look for.

But the main issue with this incident is once again, the shooter has MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, and reportedly had been institutionalized for two weeks this past summer. This alone would've kept him from passing a firearms background check and should have disqualified him from possessing firearms, especially after he threatened to shoot up a military training base.

Obviously, people knew this guy was crazy and dangerous, but apparently there was nothing anyone could do to take the firearms away from him. The states need to seriously consider sensible red flag laws that will prevent lunatics from possessing guns and require them to receive treatment.

It turns out the bowling alley was a gun free zone - no guns allowed. The restaurant probably was also since they served alcohol. But criminals and lunatics don't care about rules and laws.

If guns are not the problem, and people are the problem, why do you want to give the problem a gun?

Good question. This seems to be the case with almost all of these mass shootings; people knew the individual was crazy and could likely be dangerous, but often did nothing. In this case, the military, federal and state authorities actually knew about him and and ignored him. What's more, the Army Reserve actually allowed him to continue to serve instead of giving him a Section 8 (mental illness) discharge. So what's the problem and who's responsible for allowing this travesty to happen?

"Card's case stands as a glaring example of missed red flags, with many unanswered questions about what the military, police, mental health professionals and relatives could have done to prevent the massacre...

Another law enforcement agency that came in contact with Card was the New York State Police, which on July 16 was called in West Point by commanders of the Army Reserve’s 3rd Battalion, 304th Infantry Regiment with concerns about Card’s erratic behavior and “threats to other members of his military unit" during a training exercise, according to a State Police document obtained by AP. State Police troopers took Card, a sergeant 1st class, to the Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point for what would be two weeks of mental health evaluation...

Jonathan Crisp, an army lawyer for two decades before starting a criminal defense practice, said when soldiers are committed involuntarily to mental health facilities by others in the chain of command, it is a “reportable” event under Army regulations that triggers a requirement to alert others. A provost marshal enters the incident into a military database that puts the FBI on notice so it can enter the name into a background list of people prevented from buying weapons.

“If they took him and he didn’t want to go and he refused to be admitted, it’s a slam dunk,” Crisp said. “This should have been reported."

Nobody wants to give "the problem" a gun. The issue is those who want to blame and penalize all those "not a problem" in order to solve "the problem" rather than actually addressing and solving "the problem".
How about instead of taking the guns away from the aggressor, we train and equip the victim with a gun so that when the aggressor tries to hurt her (or him) they can shoot and kill them?

Keep in mind that Nashville and surrounding Davidson county is a very blue pocket in the Red state if TN. They've released some bits and pieces, but are holding back the rest, ostensibly because of the "ongoing investigation".
Apparently it was more like a coverup. Three pages of it were eventually leaked recently.
