Express America acquired by Landstar.

Ancient history and I am only reporting what a Landstar agent who said he once owned part or all of Express America once reported to me. As far as I know, this is a little-known development that happened in the very early days of expediting. While this was an interesting historical tidbit to hear at the time, I never followed up to verify it.

Express America was one of the original expedite companies, this agent said.

Yep Phil that is correct, I was looking at them when the buy out happened.

another interesting list is the list of expedite carriers/brokers no longer in business (not through mergers or acquisitions),

probably not enough space here to list all of them
